Ortom Impeachment!! Now I Know Why Donald Trump Branded Us Shithole Country – Ortom Speaks

“Now I know why Trump called Nigeria a shithole country. It’s only in a shithole country that eight House of Assembly members can suspend 22 lawmakers”.
Samuel Ortom, Governor of Benue State, says the institution of impeachment proceedings against him by eight members of the state assembly would have been impossible were Nigeria not a shithole country.
Eight members of the Benue State Assembly served Ortom with impeachment notice on Monday, citing abuse of office and mismanagement of funds.

I Work Hard To Survive Because I Grew Up With Nothing - Chika Ike

Popular Nigerian actress, Chika Ike has said she works hard because she grew up with nothing, also revealing that she she once battled with low self-esteem and hopelessness.

I work hard because I grew up with nothing - Chika Ike lailasnewsAccording to Punch Nigeria, Chika Ike while revealing the circumstances behind her birth and upbringing in a press conference, Ike said she came from a poor background. She said;“I didn’t have a good relationship with my father growing up because he wanted a male child. Those made me understand as a child that you have to fight for yourself because it is about you alone at the end of the day.
When I was little, people would ask me what gave me the impression I could become successful in life. I once struggled to pay my rent and I have been turned down by people many times.
I didn’t get here because I am beautiful or an actress; I kept pushing myself. I do things that you will never think I can do; nobody thought I would be given an admission at the prestigious Harvard Business School.”
She also said she was aware that everyone had a limited time to spend on earth, saying she had decided to live like there was no tomorrow. She added;
“I have been through a lot in my life; I have my ups and downs. I try to have a good life because life is too short. I lost my mother when she was still very young, which made me realise that we cannot live as long as we want. You don’t even know what can happen tomorrow; so, you have to embrace every moment.”

INEC Registered Foreigners And Underaged In Northern Nigeria-- South, Middle Belts Forums

Elder statesmen from the South and the Middle Belt have accused the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, of registering foreigners and under-aged voters in Northern Nigeria.
To this end, the elders rejected the current voters registers, asking INEC to jettison same, while also asking for the immediate retirement of service chiefs who they said were long over due for retirement.
Operating under the aiges of the Southern Elders and Middle Belt Forum, the elders made the demands during a courtesy call to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, in Abuja on Wednesday.
The Forum was made up of Afenifere, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the Pan-Niger Delta Elders Forum (PANDEF) and Middle Belt Forum.
Members of the delegation included Professor Chigozie Ogbu, Air Commodore Idongesit Nkanga, retd, Air Commodore Dan Suleiman, former Governor Olusegun Mimiko, Cornelius Adebayo and Chief Olu Falae.

Led by Chief Ayo Adebanjo of Afenifere, the elders also demanded the support of the lawmakers in the realisation of the restructuring of the country under a federal system of government.
Adebanjo said only restructuring of the country in a federal system of government would guarantee the unity of the country.
He said: “The current voters registration exercise has been compromised and marred by irregularities by the registration of under-aged and foreigners being recorded in some parts of the north.
“Accordingly, we call for the total cancellation of the INEC voters register, support and insist on restructuring and true federalism and call on the National Assembly to immediately commence a legislative agenda in that regard.
“Anything beyond restructuring, we are not for it and we believe in championing this cause, we need the support of the House.
“By conveying the idea of restructuring to you does not mean to break up Nigeria. It is the only thing that can keep Nigeria together in peace.
“We do not think that after being together for so long we should break up but we don’t want to be in a Nigeria that is dominated by one section of the country, that is anti a section of the country and extremely pro another section of the country.
“Anyone one who is opposed to the restructuring of the country is the enemy number one. We want a constitution that is agreeable to all of us…”

‘Isreal & Palestine On The Brink Of War’ – UN

The UN Special Coordinator on the Middle East Peace Process, Mr Nickolay Mladenov, has urged Israelis and Palestinians to pull back from the brink of war.
Mladenov said this at a press conference in the Gaza Strip on Sunday amid a ceasefire holding after a day-long flare-up in fighting between Gaza and Israel Gaza militants.

“Yesterday we were on the brink of war and it has taken the concerted efforts of everyone to make sure that we step back from confrontation,” Mladenov warned.
The envoy also appealed to the Palestinian factions to not provoke incidents at the fence, to stop the firing of rockets and mortars, to stop the incendiary kites and to “give peace a chance.
“I appeal to Israel to be very restrained in its responses to the situation in Gaza.
“I appeal to snipers not to shoot children. Iappeal to everybody to step back from the brink,” he added.
The envoy also noted the stalled Palestinian reconciliation process and the dire security situation in the wake of Israel’s deadly response to the recent series of Palestinian protests that began at the Gaza border fence in March.
“I want to begin by expressing deepest condolences to the parents of all the children, whose lives have been lost in the past few weeks; to all journalists and to all medical professionals, who have lost their lives in the line of duty,” Mladenov said.
He called for concerted efforts by all to pull back from “a confrontation that nobody wants, nobody needs and in which everyone will lose’’.
“Further, the international community has the responsibility to act immediately and meet the expectations not only of providing aid to the people of Gaza but of designing a political path to move forward,” he said.
He appealed to the leadership of both Hamas and Fatah and all Palestinian factions, to take Egypt’s initiatives very seriously.
“The only realistic perspective today is this: avoid war, fix the humanitarian problems of Gaza and get back to the reconciliation process. If we are able to do this, we can achieve a lot.
“But we need and I hope we will have the full cooperation of all Palestinians and all Israelis who are sick and tired of war and conflict, who want to live in peace, and who want to see their lives not constantly threatened by rockets or air strikes,” Mladenov added.

Kemi Adeosun's Exemption Certificate Is Fake-- Former NYSC Director Claims

A retired Director of Mobilisation at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Anthony Ani, has given reasons the purported ‘Certificate of Exemption’ owned by Nigeria’s Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, is not genuine and “wouldn’t have emanated from the NYSC”.
Adeosun was alleged to have skipped the mandatory NYSC year and went ahead to procure a certificate to cover her tracks.
She is yet to respond to the allegations since they became public last weekend.
Ani, who appeared on Channels Television’s breakfast show, Sunrise Daily, said the certificate had footprints of a fake NYSC certificate.
He insisted that there was no way NYSC would issue Certificate of Exemption to anyone who graduated before 30 years.
“You don’t apply for either NYSC certificate or NYSC certificate of national service or certificate of exemption, you present yourself for mobilisation. The system will determine whether you are to be exempted or you are not to be exempted,” Ani said.
Answering another question, he insisted that “[by] the NYSC procedure, you don’t apply for exemption and expect a certificate. You make yourself available [for mobilisation], when you are mobilised, those who are to be exempted are exempted and those who are to be deployed are deployed.”
