He said this on Friday, August 24, 2018, while speaking to members of the PDP in Ondo state, according to Punch.

The two senators made the call in a joint statement they signed in Abuja on Sunday.

They urged the ruling party to stop seeking to find a scapegoat in Saraki over its failure to fulfil electoral promises it made to the Nigerian electorate when it came to power.

Buhari Has Serious Health Challenges, Cabal Now Running His Government – Tambuwal

Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto State has affirmed that it is true that President Muhammadu Buhari has health challenges and also accused a cabal of running his (Buhari”s) government.

“We are aware that the President is affected by serious challenges of health and is being held captive by a cabal that runs Nigeria for their personal interests.”

Tambuwal also declared that he had been under tremendous pressure to join the 2019 presidential race.

Addressing thousands of youths and students who stormed the Governor’s Office in appreciation of his involving the youths in his administration, Tambuwal said, We supported Muhammadu Buhari in 2015 to become President unconditionally and we admit that Buhari has integrity but that’s not the only requirement for leadership.
Buhari faced a major medical challenge in 2017 that saw him spending the better part of the year outside the country.

He left the country on January 19, 2017, on what the Presidency described then as a medical vacation.

When the trip was prolonged, presidential aides announced that the President would be staying back in the British capital to enable him to collect results of some medical tests he did.

He returned to the country on March 10, 2017, after a 49-day medical sojourn, saying he had never been that sick in his life.

He then gave an indication that he would return to London for further checkup.

After missing public events, including three consecutive weekly Federal Executive Council meetings which raised anxiety in the country, Buhari on May 7, 2017, returned to London for medical consultations.

He returned to the country on August 19, 2017.

On his presidential ambition, Tambuwal said he was still making consultations because of his belief that leadership was a collective responsibility.

On the way forward for the country, Tambuwal told the youths that the future for a greater Nigeria lay with the younger generation, assuring them of his commitment to the welfare and empowerment of this group.

He reminded them that they were the leaders of tomorrow and that tomorrow was today for them to make the right choice on who would lead the country.

Saraki May Not Reconvene Senate As Plot Against Him Hots Up

Senators and House of Representatives members were yet to confirm last night whether or not the two chambers will reconvene tomorrow to consider the 2019 elections budget.

The Chairman of the National Assembly, senate president Bukola Saraki has not announced that the lawmakers should reconvene.

Also, there are indications that if the two chambers reconvene, the Senate may end up merely concurring with the report of the House Committee on the 2019 poll budget for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The House Committee, chaired by Hon. Aisha Dukku, is said to have concluded the consideration of the budget before the abrupt recess of the National Assembly on July 24.

Many senators and House members, who were hitherto set for summer and Hajj rites, remain in Abuja because there is no word from the National Assembly’s leadership.

A member of the House from the Northwest said: “This budget is important but there is anxiety everywhere on the security implications of recalling members.

“From the look of things, our leaders are looking at all options on how to make the ratification of the budget easier.”

A principal officer of the House, who spoke in confidence, said: “We have not been told when the National Assembly will reconvene to consider the poll budget. I know the Speaker assured INEC Chairman Mahmud Yakubu last week that we will give the budget a speedy consideration. We are awaiting a recall announcement.

So far, Tuesday does not look practicable. The basic challenge is the crisis of confidence among members of the two chambers.

“I think the National Assembly leadership is trying to manage the tempers arising from the defections and the seige to the Assembly complex last week. We are also talking to ourselves to allow reason to prevail.”

Senate Leader Ahmad Lawan said: “I am still waiting to be informed by the President of the Senate on whether we will sit on Tuesday or not.

“Well, I will expect the Senate President to talk to me or call. I have not received any communication yet.

“And normally, an announcement is supposed to be made. We have not heard of any as I speak with you.”

EFCC Freezes Benue State Government Accounts

The EFCC has frozen the accounts of the Benue State government as the anti-graft party accuses the state of corruption.

The plot to frustrate Governor Samuel Ortom after his daring move to defect from the All Progressives Congress, APC, to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, took a dramatic turn Tuesday following indication that the state government’s bank accounts have been frozen by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
Vanguard gathered that the government accounts were frozen by the anti graft agency on the premise that the Governor’s security vote was being investigated.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission earlier linked Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State to an alleged fraud to the tune of N22bn.
This is just as the EFCC revealed that 21 members of the Benue State House of Assembly are under investigation for allegedly diverting N375m meant for the procurement of vehicles that would be used for oversight functions.
The allegations are contained in a report of an investigation which began in 2016 but was made available to a Punch correspondent on Monday.
According to the report, the governor, between June 30, 2015 and March 2018, ordered the withdrawal of N21.3bn from four government’s accounts in Guaranty Trust Bank, First Bank of Nigeria and the United Bank for Africa.
On paper, about N19bn out of the money was said to be meant for the payment of six security agencies that had been deployed in the state to address the incessant clashes between herdsmen and farmers.
However, the EFCC stated that less than N3bn of the money was paid to the security agencies while the remainder could not be accounted for.
